The Calling: How Holy Land Farms Was Born

Jason Womack wasn’t looking for a new mission. A successful farmer, devoted husband, and
father of three, he already had his hands full running a thriving sod business with his dad in
South Georgia. But God had other plans. After reluctantly attending a men’s retreat, Jason found
himself profoundly moved. Something deep shifted inside him, and he couldn’t ignore it. That
retreat ignited what would become The Road Less Traveled Ministries, a journey of obedience
and faith that’s spanned two decades.

Then came the land. Over 140 acres of serene, untouched beauty — rolling hills, ancient oaks,
and quiet lakes — it captured both Jason and his father Roger. As they walked the property,
visions of worship events, retreats, and spiritual restoration unfolded before them. Roger, a man
of few words, said little during the visit. But the next morning, Jason woke to a message he’ll
never forget: “In my Father’s house there are many mansions. Let’s buy it in HIS name.” They
both knew — this was holy ground.

Just two months later, Roger passed away suddenly. A wave of grief followed. Jason’s mother
fell seriously ill. Was Holy Land Farms ever meant to be? But in his darkest hour, God whispered
again, pushing Jason forward to start Holy Land Farms. The Lord was still speaking, and Holy
Land Farms began.
